Evaluation of the Seismic Behavior of RC Buildings through the Direct Modeling of Masonry Infill Walls

The direct modeling of masonry infill walls on many buildings, based damage recorded by various past earthquakes, has become increasingly necessary in order to identify the seismic behavior these elements, which constitute an important part reinforced concrete buildings. In this paper, several 3D models were analyzed nonlinear static (pushover) method, when ignoring, and considering, walls. finite element software SAP proposed models. These represent low mid-rise buildings infilled with double-leaf hollow bricks. properties materials used Algeria, either frame elements or used. results obtained compared according two parameters, natural time period building pushover curve, varying values dead load compressive strength. discussed suggested parameters. showed that indirect such walls, taking assumptions embedded factor means macro-modal, can lead a poor appreciation Consequently, real void acceptable some extent. This contributes greatly towards understanding type building.
